The Marin Continuum of Housing and Services ("the Continuum") is a collaboration composed of 32 Marin organizations providing housing and related services to the community. Established in 1993, the Continuum is a collaborative vehicle for coordinating and creating effective change and for improving and increasing housing and services for low-income and homeless people in Marin beyond what can be achieved by member agencies individually.

Our mission is to lead the community to collectively ensure that families and individuals become and remain housed. We accomplish this by facilitating a system that houses everyone in need, with adequate support services to keep people housed, while concurrently advocating for systemic changes. Contact Info

Our Programs

Hamilton Transitional Housing
The Continuum, in partnership with EAH, has developed 101 units of transitional housing at the former Hamilton Air Field in Novato. the first families moved in to their homes in September 2003. Construction was completed in 2006, and over 200 formerly homeless people, including over 80 children are currently being housed. Residents may stay in their units for up to two years. During that time, they will receive a wide range of supportive services designed to assist them to move into stable housing in the community.

Marin Community Resource Guide
Each year the Continuum publishes the Marin Commnuity Resource Guide, a pamphlet containing contact information for an array of nonprofit service and housing providers in Marin. The resource guide helps connect families and individuals, who may be seeking assitance, to an agency in their community. To access the most recent version of the guide please click here: 2009 Community Resource Guide

System Planning and Public Policy
The Continuum provides the Marin community with strategic system-wide planning and public policy analysis for the maintenance and preservation of affordable housing and services.

Advocacy, Education, Community Information
The Continuum conducts advocacy on behalf of homeless persons and member organizations, provides education to the community and member agencies on homeless and housing issues, and disseminates community information for low-income families and individuals pertaining to housing and services.

Homeless Management Information System (HMIS)
The Continuum participates in Marin's HMIS system, which is a database that collects demographic information on participants of programs and/or receiving services from agencies that work with the homeless and low income populations of Marin. The Continuum collects and tracks data on residents of our Hamilton Meadows program. This information is utilized in reporting on program accomplishments and also to help service and housing providers get a better understanding of the scope of the issues facing the homeless and low income earners in Marin. If your agency is intersted in particpating in this program please contact us and we will connect you with the lead agency. Hamilton Employment Center
The Continuum, in partnership with Homeward Bound of Marin, is in the pre-development process to create a training and service center at former Hamilton Air Field, adjacent to the Hamilton Transitional Housing Project. This entrepreneurial mixed-use project will create a commercial office center that will have both for-profit and non-profit tenants. Through agreements with the businesses located in the Center, the Continuum and its member organizations will provide on-the-job training to formerly homeless and low-income individuals. This project is designed to achieve the goal of assisting underemployed and low-income families to earn an a living wage and become financially self-sufficient.
